Month: October 2012
This month on November 2nd and November 3rd, we will gather outside Acme (on 561 next to Rave Motion Pictures Theater) to hand out peanuts for donations to the district project, Eliminate, to help end maternal and neonatal tetanus. The peanuts are supplied for free from Kiwanis, our parent organization. The events are planned for directly after school from 2:30 to 5:30PM on Friday the 2nd and 10AM to 5PM on Saturday the 3rd. We usually gather quite a large sum of donation money, so come join us and help break our previous records! Sign ups were at the October 23rd and 25th meetings. For individual timings, please check the Key Club Facebook page.
Attention Key Club Members, the working meeting on October 30th has been postponed to November 1st due to the school closing. Please report to Mr. Trinkner’s room (Rm. 94) after school to write letters to soldiers stationed abroad. The soldiers really appreciate our letters. So try to attend this meeting to perform a great deed. Also, you will get an hour of service for attending.
Every fall, our Key Club goes to the Devon Trail located in Haddon Heights, NJ at the intersection of Devon Ave. and Walnut St. to cleanup the litter that has accumulated from years of use as an old landfill. We, along with the Haddons Kiwanis come out to this event to serve nature and cleanup. We also clear the paths and restore the entrance. The nature trail is quite an adventure! Afterwards, the Kiwanis serve a barbecue-style lunch to fill your raging appetite. The cleanup will last about 3-4 hours from 9AM to noon. If you are interested, sign up at the meeting either on Oct. 23rd or Oct. 25th in the SHS Recital Hall. Let’s see how big of a turnout we can bring to this event!
On Friday October 26th, we will be holding a Voorhees Pediatric Facility visit to play with the disabled children across the street. The visit lasts about an hour directly after school. Meet in Mr. Trinkner’s room (Rm 94) immediately after school on the 26th to walk down to the facility. Only 10 members can attend and sign ups were at the October 3rd meeting.
